The Forum for Democratic Change-FDC presidential candidate Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat has promised a federal system of governance to Buganda kingdom once elected into office.

He revealed this at Bulange Mengo after meeting the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga noting that FDC will introduce a Federal Government system that the kingdom has been advocating for, for a long time.

Amuriat also reported to Mayiga how they are being mistreated by security personnel as members of the opposition during campaigning. He says they have been tear gassed and brutally arrested on several occasions by Police which claims to be enforcing Covid-19 preventative guidelines.

In his response, the Katikkiro welcomed the FDC members and condemned Police for interfering in the candidates’ campaigns and wondered why all presidential candidates are not given an equal platform to speak to the voters.

He also noted that Uganda needs leaders who respect the rule of law and strict observance of human rights.

Mayiga called upon voters to look out for candidates who support the Kingdom’s five key aspirations that include respecting the kingdom, a federal system of government, protection of land rights and boundaries, extension of service delivery and unity of all Ugandans.

The FDC has also bought Kabaka birthday run kits worthy 4 million shillings and a certificate worthy 2 million shillings.
