The opposition forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has condemned government over its decision to close a number of public schools.

The party spokespersons Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda while addressing journalist at Najjanakumbi said it’s appropriate for Ugandans be denied education because of government mistake but rather it would have looked at facilitating the schools to have the minimum requirements for tier operations.

This comes as the State Minister for Primary Education Rosemary Seninde has insisted that no school will open the term today February 5th without license a directive said to affect over 1000 schools in the country.

Meanwhile, School owners under their umbrella body the Federation of Non State Education Institutions (FNSEI) have risen on their voices demanding that government sets up a one stop center where they could register and license their schools.

According to the Federations’ Vice Chairperson, Hajati Ndifuna Matovu, the current registration and licensing process of schools in the ministry hardens the exercises and results into laxity among owners and the Education Ministry officials
