The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party has set up a committee headed by the party Chairperson Ambassador Wasswa Birigwa to carryout consultations on Mailo Land.

Birigwa will be deputized by Kibuuka Mukalazi, the FDC Vice Chairperson for Buganda Region and Counsel Isaac Ssemakadde will be the Secretary.

The party Spokesperson Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda at a press conference in Najjanakumbi this Monday said the committee will compile a report which will guide the party on its next course of action following the recent outburst of President Museveni and his junior lands minister, Sam Mayanja on the Mailo Land tenure system.

Ssemujju adds FDC is concerned with this old divisive rhetoric against Mailo Land in Buganda and after that land grabbers may descend on other parts of the country that practice a customary land system.

Meanwhile, the FDC also advises the government not to continue with the national lockdown as a means of curbing the spread of Covid-19 but should rather relax it with strict adherence to the preventative measures announced under the Standard Operating Procedures-SOPs.

This comes as the country awaits President Museveni next address in regards to the 42 days lockdown that started on June 18th and comes to an end this week.
