Government officials have all agreed that unless Ugandans take a fight against corruption by themselves starting at individual level the vice is far from being uprooted from this country.

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah who is one of those who participated in the anti-corruption walk today from the constitutional square to Kololo Airstrip, said that Ugandans are all guilty of abetting corruption, and called for internal reflection from everyone in order to stem corruption out of the country less of that, any efforts to eliminate corruption will remain just a public show.

Oulanyah adds that Ugandans need a change of attitude to stop corruption. He used a biblical allusion in his speech saying when a person who has not been corrupt should be the first to cast a stone on the corrupt.

Some Mps who followed today’s walk against corruption like Hon. Margaret Namubiru of the NRM and Rubaga North Mp Moses Kasibante a member of the opposition said today’s work has been just a symbol but not a measure taken to fight corruption. Let actions be taken against the corrupt rather than walking.

President Yoweri Museveni who led the maiden walk against corruption observed a need to ensure that the temptation to be corrupt is eliminated, making reference to words in the Lord’s prayer which calls for humans not to be led into temptation.

Besides calling the corrupt “ticks” that fists on animals, he said any persons who delays a government project or seeks for money to support an investor is corrupt who must be done away with.
