The Elderly persons have condemned the Electoral Commission of National Resistance Movement (NRM) for charging them 2 million shillings to contest on NRM ticket.

 

After numerous calls from a number of groups requesting government to create special seats for the elderly in Parliament, Cabinet approved five seats under this group.

 

Guster Sserwanga 72 years of age a representative of elderly persons in Nabweru Division  Nansana municipality says 2 million shillings from such a person is not Fair and it will limit many capable older persons from coming out to contest. They want the charges be reduced to 1 million Shs.

 

Sserwanga however applauded cabinet for such good proposal which is going to help elderly persons be recognized in society.
