The Nakaseke South Member of Parliament Paul Luttamaguzi Ssemakula has tasked the government to subsidize prices of commodities and utilities to enable private schools to meet their daily expenses at a minimal fee which in turn will help to stop the hiking of school fees.

The call comes as schools open for the first term academic calendar and parents are struggling to meet the hiked school fees in spite of the government’s directive to all schools not to increase fees.

Luttamaguzi says it will be unfair for private owned schools to abide by the government decision yet they too face a challenge in facilitating operational expenses.

However, the State Minister for Higher Education John Chrysostom Muyingo said that the cabinet is still debating on the school fees regulation policy but also confirmed that a circular was sent by the Education Ministry barring all schools from increasing school fees.

Muyingo adds that the Ministry of Education has also written to all schools to be on watch and desist from acts of homosexuality.
