The electoral commission filed an application asking the High court to allow it more time for the Prisoners and Ugandans living in the diaspora to be catered for  in the  subsequent elections.

According to an affidavit sworn by one of the commission’s legal officer Hamid Lugoloobi the above two categories may not participate in next year’s General election as ordered by the High court because the Electoral commission says it does not have funds to facilitate the process neither can it open the voter register to register these people.

He further states that it’s therefore just and equitable that the High court reviews it’s  order in which it recognised the rights of inmates and people in the diaspora to vote in the next election and instead  allows the EC embark on the   process in the near future .

The Electoral Commission’s application was Received and fixed for hearing on the 13th/July before Justice Esta Nambayo.
