The opposition Democratic Party (DP) says it is still strong despite the internal disagreements within the party.

Norbert Mao the Party President told the media today in Kampala that despite all the ridicules the party is receiving from the media and enemies of DP they continue to register new members.

Mao say the party is strong and ready for the 2021 elections however as a party they will not stop any person who wishes to leave them.

This follows party members such as Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago joining the FDC, Kawempe Division  Mayor Emmanuel Sserunjogi and his Makindye conterpart Ali Kasirye nganda Mulyanyama both leaving DP to join the NUP Party among others.

Meanwhile, he has refuted allegations that the party has locked out some DP members who want to run on the party ticket.

He says the delegate’s conference for elections of the National Executive Committee will be held scientifically in accordance with the SOPs regulations but  already 22 venues country wide have been identify although the main conference will be in Gulu where all NEC members will gather for the elections

Meanwhile, Mao has advised party members to avoid getting party information from members of the DP Block because it’s not an official organ of the party.
