The minister for Kampala Betty Amongi together with the executive director for Kampala capital city authority  Dorothy Kisaka has officially handed over 2m masks to the mayor Kampala central division Emmanuel Sserunjogi to be distributed to the people of Kampala.

While handing over these masks the minister appealed to the LC2 councillors to hand these masks to the LCI chairpersons to ensure that they distribute these masks equally to all Ugandans despite their political affiliations.

These masks will be distributed to the people of all divisions that make up Kampala district such as Nakawa ,Rubaga ,Makindye ,central ,Kawempe.

President Museveni promised Ugandans free masks before public transport resumed on June 04th but to date a few boarder districts had gotten masks.

This comes as the country registers more Covid-19 cases that stand at 1,223 people with six fatalities, 1.102 recoveries while 96 are the current active cases so far.

According to the Ministry of Health, the latest victim making the sixth death is a 70-year-old Ugandan male, a resident of Nateete Kampala, who was presented at Lubaga hospital with signs and symptoms consisted with COVID-19 admitted in the Intensive Care Unit after tests that confirmed that he had the disease.

According to the ministry, he was on July 28 referred to Mulago National Referral Hospital where he died on Thursday August 06, 2020.
