The Buganda Road Court has charged a Makerere University lecturer, Professor Bernard Wandera for assaulting and causing actual bodily harm to students.
Wandera 57 is said to have assaulted two of his students in a lecture room by slapping them.
Prosecution alleges that Wandera on the November 17, 2022, at Central Teaching Facility 1 Lecture room Makerere University Kawempe division, Kampala district assaulted Patricia Aikoro and Prisca Mirembe thereby causing them actual bodily harm.
The accused has however been granted a cash bail of 1.5 million and each of his sureties’ have been bonded at 50 million non cash.
State prosecution led by Joan Keko has revealed how investigations into the matter are done thus an adjournment by grade one magistrate Fidelis Otwao to the 15th December 2022.
In a tweet on 19th November 2022, vice chancellor Makerere University Professor Barnabas Nawangwe interdicted Wandera pending investigations into the above matter.
