Control the hiking cost of fuel to save Ugandans- Muslims.

The Masaka Municipality County Sheikh Twaha Bugembe has asked the government to tame the rising prices of fuel.

In his sermon during the Eid al-Adha prayers at Masaka main mosque grounds today, Shiekh Bugembe expressed concern that the covid-19 restrictions coupled with the unexpected rise in fuels prices have presented to them tougher times during fasting of the holy month of Ramadhan.

Last month, the country started registering an increase in prices of fuel, with a litre of petrol shooting above Shillings 4,100 from 3,600 shillings.

The increase came shortly after the government introduced an additional 100 shillings per litre in excise duty beginning with the coming financial year.

Sheikh Bugembe said that the increase in fuel prices are presenting a spillover effect to all aspects of the economy and are making life hard for the common people.

Sheikh Bugembe on the other hand cautioned the Muslims faithful against the habit of selfishness, urging them to offer all forms of kind support to the vulnerable persons in their communities.

Before the Eid Prayers, dozens of needy Muslims converged at the main mosque where they were offered foodstuffs and cash which were raised by kind-hearted faithful contributing to Charity, commonly known as Zakatul Fitri.

Sheikh Abaasi Nseera, the Imam of Masaka Main Mosque, on other hand also called upon the Muslims to tirelessly contribute towards the initiated development projects that are aimed at earning them financial sustainability.
