The former Katikkiro of Buganda Michael Ernest Kawalya’s grand children have accused the city Pastor Daniel Walugembe for defrauding them while acquiring their late mother’s land.
The land in caution is located at Bulega in Buikwe district Kyaggwe worth 509 Acers of land owned by their mother, the late Harriet Nansikombi a sister to the late Ham Mukasa and daughter to Ex-Katikkiro.
Appearing before the Land Commission of Inquiry in Kampala on behalf of the family, the 64year old Elizabeth Kibuuka Musoke Kulabako reported that Pr. Walugembe impersonated as a blocker connecting them to Uganda Land Commission into a sell of the said land under the Uganda Land Fund.
She adds that Pr. Walugembe hid the transaction processes, instead negotiated and received UGX 2.5 billion from the ULC before he tricked and paid them UGX 507 million.
Kulabako says that Pr. Walugembe also connived with one Christopher Ssebadduka and Isaac Nampuma to fraudulently transact their other two plots of land at Bugangaizi in Bunyoro and Manyonyi Ntwetwe in Kiboga Ssingo.
Later in the evening, upon his appearance before the commission, Pr. Walugembe was arrested by police on orders of Justice Bamugemereire over hiding information regarding his involvement in the acquisition process of the said land.
