The foot pilgrims from Masaka Catholic Diocese who left Katende Parish last night have resting at the Bakateyamba Home at Nalukolongo as they wait to resume their journey to the Namugongo Martyrs Shrine at around 10pm tonight.
The group comprising of over 850 pilgrims is led by the Chancellor of Masaka diocese, Rev. Fr. Edward Ssekabanja is currently.
These were challenged when two of their colleagues were knocked dead by a speeding bus and they died instantly.
Police identified the two as; Specioza Nambi (54) and her niece Olivia Nabakooza (36) both from Makondo Parish in Masaka Diocese.
The accident took place at St. Lawrence-Nakati along the Kampala-Masaka highway, involving a bus belonging to Perfect Company that lost control and knocked the two pilgrims who were on their way to Nalukolongo.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Police Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan says investigations are under way to find out the cause of the accident.
