Christians have been asked to use the Lenten season to pray for a peaceful election in Uganda ahead of 2021.

According to the Electoral Commission elections are starting around March or April 2020 with the special interest groups among them youth leaders followed by the Parliamentary and Presidential polls between January 10 and February 8 2021.

Leading the Ash Wednesday Mass at Kasana Cathedral, Rev. Fr. Francis Xavier Mpanga the Diocesan Chancellor said that the political fever has started by putting many people on tension and fear for their lives.

Fr. Mpanga said that as believers, the Lenten season which lasts for 40 days should lift their hearts through fasting, praying and giving thanks to God by praying for the peaceful election period.

The Lenten season is climaxed with the crucifixion of Jesus Christ followed by his resurrection on Easter.
