Catholic Church has commissioned the first ever private Heart Treatment Center in the country at the Our Lady of Consolata Kisubi Hospital along Entebbe Road, in Wakiso district.

The 11billion shillings facility is the second largest heart treatment center in the country following the government’s Uganda Heart Institute in Mulago.

During a Eucharist mass for the commissioning ceremony at Kisubi hospital today, the Archbishop of Kampala His Grace Paul Ssemogerere noted that the facility has started achieving the dreams of its founders who started it as a small health post in 1905.

He says that this achievement of commissioning a health treatment center calls for more dedication from the health workers in providing services by showing loving and delivering treatment to the patients.

Dr. Robert Asaba, the Kisubi Hospital Executive Director the center will be treating people with a variety of heart conditions and the finished first phase involves diagnosis, treatment and monitoring people both adults and children with heart diseases as well as providing interventional cardiology procedures.

He says that in the next three years, they expect to expand the unit to be able to cater for heart surgeries, a project that will require about Shs9bn.

Dr. Asaba says that they record between 15-25 people with heart related patients daily and they expect this number to increase once people gets more information about the availability of the services.

The State Minister for General Duties in the Office of the Prime Minister Justine Kasule Lumumba has represented the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbaja as the Guest of Honor.
