Police in conjunction with Kampala Archdiocese has released guidelines for the burial of the late Archbishop of Kampala, Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga at Lubaga Cathedral where about 500 guests are expected to attend.

Luke Oweyesigyire, the deputy Spokesperson of Kampala Metropolitan Police while speaking to the media at the Central Police Station Kampala said that only invited guests will be allowed to access the burial due to the Covid-19 pandemic and urged them to follow the Covid standard operating procedures.

Oweyesigyire adds that Police will have three check points and all guests will be checked as they enter the premises so they are urged not to carry any items that may be dangerous.

Meanwhile, Oweyesigyire reveals that starting from Wednesday evening there is going to be traffic diversion at Nabunya Junction, Kabuusu Round-about, along Muteesa road at Rubaga Hospital and that Rubaga Road leading to the Cathedral will be restricted to motorists.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director for Social Communication in Kampala Archdiocese, Rev. Fr. Nicholas Mulumba has called upon the public to follow security guidelines and SOPs to give the departed Bishop a deserving send-off.

He says that the day’s program will start at 7am and burial is expected to be at 2:30pm and the requiem mass will be led by the Chairman Uganda Episcopal Conference Dr. Joseph Anthony Zziwa.
