The opposition, Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has admitted that the newly elected party President, Patrick Oboi Amuriat’s Saturday oath was illegal.

Addressing a weekly press briefing at Najjanankumbi, the FDC Deputy Secretary General Harold Kaija admits that Amuriat’s oath taken on November 25 this year after election was illegally done since the day was a weekend and the exercise was not administered by a commissioner of oaths.

Former Kumi Member of Parliament, Amuriat defeated Gen Mugisha Muntu, the incumbent in the race for the FDC presidency at all the six polling stations at Namboole national stadium.

Kaija further confirms that the official and legal oath will be administered by renowned Lawyer Ladislus Rwakafuzi at the party headquarters in Najanankumbi this coming Thursday.

Muntu, a former army commander and bush war veteran who was running for the second and last term garnered 463 votes (41.1 per cent) against Eng. Amuriat’s  who polled 641 (57.6 per cent).

Moses Byamugisha scored three votes while Dan Matsiko polled two.
