The husband to the Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Amelia Kyambadde, Wilson Kyambadde has been released after completing his six months sentence to Luzira prisons over failure to pay a debt of over 1.1 billion shillings.

Wilson Kyambadde was on July 10, last year committed to civil prison by the Deputy Registrar in-charge of execution matters, Flavia Nassuna Matovu in the Civil Division of the High Court for failure to refund Shs1.1b to a city businessman, Amdan Khan.

This followed his dramatic arrest by court bailiffs led by Moses Kirunda at Old Kampala where he had reportedly gone to attend a burial ceremony. Kirunda confirmed his release but said its just on the first sentence saying they are now going to process bailiffs fees of about Shs37million.

Earlier in 2014 the then High Court Execution Division Assistant Registrar, Lawrence Tweyanze, had ordered Kyambadde to pay back the money he picked in the name of a failed property transaction said to be located along Nasser road in Kampala to Khan a cotton dealer and prominent money lender.
