A total of 695,793 candidates have been registered to sit for their 2019 Primary Leaving Examination that will be conducted on 4th and 5th of November from 13,475 centers.

This has been revealed by the Executive Secretary of the Uganda National Examination Board-UNEB, Dan Odongo revealing that out of these 1,259 are special needs candidates with various types of disabilities and 62 are inmates from Luzira Upper prison.

336,029 pupils are male while 359,764 are females and this indicates that more girls have been registered for this year’s examinations.

Odongo reveals that whereas last year the board introduced the use of Examination Management Information System numbers instead of the school names, this year candidates will use actual random numbers along with their personal numbers and these will be different for each of the four subjects and will be given to the candidates at the start of each paper.

He also warns all schools that no further teaching will be allowed immediately after the briefing exercise tomorrow November 1, 2019.

In 2018, 671,923 candidates were registered to sit for PLE exams from 13,072 centers.

Journalists used the same platform to send a strong message to the police through their deputy spokesperson Polly Namaye whom they refused to cover to tell her bosses to stop brutalizing journalist like it has been while covering Makerere University Students strike
