Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) under the leadership of Jimmy Akena has expelled four senior members from the party with over misconduct and breach of party constitution.

Among those who have ceased to be party members include; Joseph Bbosa, the President of Olara Otunnu’s faction, Peter Mukidi Walubiri who was recently appointed by Bbosa as his deputy and Jacinto Ogwal who contested as an independent candidate in 2016 elections as well Isha Otto.

Early this year, the alleged UPC rebel party members were summoned by the Disciplinary Committee to answer a number of claims but they defied the summons.

Bbossa, Walubiri and others have been accused of masquerading as national party leaders, yet others contested as independent candidates for Members of Parliament during the 2016 general polls.

Now the party’s Disciplinary Committee Chairman Peter Paul Okello says the expelled members have been found in gross breach of the party constitution and are no longer fit to be in UPC party.

However, Okello noted that the disciplinary committee has referred them to the National Council for further action.
