The Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has warned the Minister for Kampala Betty Kamya not against a move to take the Kampala Capital City Authority Councilors to the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi.

In a letter dated October 31st and addressed to KCCA Executive Director, Jennifer Musisi, Kamya says the councilors have been admitted for a leadership programme that will take place from 12th to 19th November.

Whereas the letter was supposed to have names of councilors who will attend the training with full sponsored allowances to the participants, Lukwago says he never got the list.

However, Lukwago believes the major aim of this meeting that is to be addressed by President Museveni is to engage councilors into passing a resolution on behalf of the Authority that supports the age limit amendment bill.

He says as per the KCCA Act, Kamya has no mandate to organize meetings or trainings for councilors because she is not Kampala’s political head.

Lukwago vowed to summon a meeting next week for members to come up with a clear position regarding the meeting in Kyankwazi.

On the day when Magyezi’s bill was tabled on the floor of parliament, a section of KCCA councilors led by Lukwago convened a meeting at City Hall and passed a resolution rejecting the bill
