The Court Martial seated at Makindye has sentenced a 49-year-old army officer to 5years in prison for stealing over 64million shillings from a widow and orphans’ pension.

Captain Justus Nuwagaba was convicted last week by a seven member panel led by the Court Chairman, Lt. Gen. Andrew Gutti after finding him guilty of stealing the deceased officer Lt. Peter Ogwang’s gratuity meant for his widow and orphans.

While delivering his ruling, Gen. Gutti said the prosecution’s six witnesses proved beyond reasonable doubt that Nuwagaba stole the money.

Meanwhile, the Buganda Road Magistrates Court has fixed June 6th, 2022 as the date to start the hearing of the matter where a former prisoner in Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, Jamal Kiyemba is accused of belonging to a terrorist organization, the Allied Democratic Forces- ADF.

Kiyemba alias Tonny Kiyemba, an Imam at Masjid Taqwa in Zana Kirimanyanga Zone in Makindye-Ssaabagabo Division in Wakiso District has pleaded not guilty this Monday before the Court presided over by the Magistrate Dr. Douglas Singiza.

State led by Joan Keko has revealed that the investigations in the matter are done.

Prosecution alleges that Kiyemba and others still at large between 2021 and January 2022 in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda belonged or professed to belong to the ADF, which is a terrorist organization.
