The Archbishop of Tororo Dr. Emmanuel Obbo has re-echoed his voice to all those coming to Namugongo Martyrs day celebrations to be full pilgrims who are in for prayers not leisure or enjoyment.

His grace Dr. Obbo says the running activities right now like the Novena and walk of faith all remind Ugandans of the prayers through the Uganda martyrs who sacrificed themselves because of faith.

He was addressing Christians who participated in the walk of faith from Munyonyo at St. Matia Mulumba Parish Old Kampala.

Dr. Obbo commended government support towards the June 3rd martyrs day celebrations and all the security agencies that are ensuring safety of the foot pilgrims currently on their way to Namugongo.

Apparently over 300 foot pilgrim from Mbarara have reached Masaka, those from Lira are in Luweero while the biggest number in one group of close to 7000 foot pilgrims from Bukedi Zone and Mbale called the Elgon Zone the Sabei region and Bugisu in Tororo Archdiocese have so far covered two days of their journey to Namugongo where they will arrive in Triumph on May 31st.

The Chief walker, the Minister of Tourism Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu has assured the country of the commitment to ensuring peace and completion of all the Martyrs shrines with modern facilities that befit them.

Addressing a gathering at Old Kampala Parish Prof. Kamuntu said the country will never neglect support to the Church for the obligation they make to promote faith which along with it attract tourists.

He specifically said June 3rd martyrs day celebrations attract over 2 million people who not only gather to pray but most of them contribute to tourism.
