As the country draw closure to the June 3rd Martyrs day celebrations, foot Pilgrims from Masaka diocese have started organizing for their journey to Namugongo Catholic Shrine.

According to the information from the diocese, the foot pilgrims will be flagged off on Monday May 28th by the Bishop of Masaka, Rt. Rev. John Baptist Kaggwa at Kitovu Cathedral Parish.

So far, the group comprises of 50 pilgrims from Bisanje Parish, 35 from Kitovu Parish, 30 from Kalungu parish and 20 from Our Lady of Assumption Kkindu parish.

At the same time, more than 400 pilgrims from Kasese and Fort Portal dioceses have started walking to Namugongo.

They included 120 from Kasese Diocese and more than 200 from Kabarole, Kamwenge, Bundibugyo,Ntoroko and Bunyangabu districts, which form Fort Portal Diocese.

The pilgrims who started walking yesterday evening are expected to reach Namugongo on May 31. Among the pilgrims is a 72-year old woman, Rose Zahura from Mugamba church, Harugongo Sub County Zahura who has walked to Namugongo for the past 12 years.
