The Bishop Hoima diocese Rt. Rev. Vincent Kirabo has decried of the devastating effects of Environmental degradation urging Catholic Communicators to sensitize about the problem.

Officiating at the opening of the Catholic Communicators’ workshop at Glory Summit Hotel in Hoima Bishop Kirabo says people need to know that they are stewards of our mother nature and any shortfall will cause serious effects to all creation.

He says the media should be seen to empower the public in all aspects that contribute to human and national development more sore catholic media that must remain credible witnesses to the Gospel.

The Bishop Chairman of Social Communications Rt. Rev. Joseph Franzelli  Bishop Emeritus of Lira diocese in his speech said the Uganda Episcopal Conference mandated him with the responsibility of having the vision of the catholic Tv becoming a reality, to boast the existing Catholic media to evangelise the Uganda and the world at large. However this calls for cordial working relationship as Catholic Communicators.

The Executive Secretary Social Communications commissions Fr. Fillip Odii reported that Hoima diocese has contributed Ushs 35 million to the total deposit of 216 million out of the 2 billion needed to start the Uganda Catholic Television. He also introduced Fr. Andrew Kaupa the executive secretary of AMECEA social communications commission who has come to attend the workshop.

Hon. Frank Tumwebaze the minister for ICT has been invited to preside over the world communication that will be held at Bujumbura Cathedral on May 12th starting with Mass at 10am.

The workshop has attracted 50 participants who are to audit their operations and set new targets. It’s running under the theme;”Networking for effective communication and resource mobilization”
