Over 6,000 youths from all the country will gather in Kampala for a convention to discuss jobs and how to create them.
The youths have been selected by respective district chairpersons and resident district commissioners.
The initiative is meant to inspire the youth to find jobs by creating them, borne out of the stark reality of the growing problem of unemployment.
The chairperson of the convention Odrek Rwabwogo says it requires the involvement of every Ugandan to find a solution to unemployment.
The platform is to advocate youth matters, equip the youth with skill, influence policy and encourage enterprise.
The Uganda Youth Convention 2010 is partnering with the “I am Ugandan” campaign to raise patriotism and pride being Ugandan.
The conference is organised in partnership with the private sector, civil society and the Government of Uganda.
It will be held at Makerere University.
Inspiration speakers will include President Yoweri Museveni, South African deputy minister for police Felike Mbalula and successful local entrepreneurs.
