A half a billion francophone around the world will celebrate the international day of the language and culture of French speaking people on 20th March 2010.

Celebrations in Uganda will be held at Alliance Françoise, Kampala .

The French Ambassador to Uganda Rene Forceville says the festival will be commemorating the common bond among communities that share the French language.

Since 1970, over 200million French speaking people from five continents celebrate the day.

The representative of the Association of French language teachers in Uganda Dr Titus Ogavu says Uganda has gained much from the French language since the 1950s and 1960s.
